africActive's HISTORY
In 2008, Thrinicko Beaboa founded africActive to respond to the great recession while studying in South Africa. A native of Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo in the central of Africa where he was raised before moving to France in his young age.
As a student in Cape Town "the mother land", Thrinicko saw a need to serve the community into the period of market decline in economies around the world
Thrinicko moved to Los Angeles in 2014, He established the Los Angeles County branch of africActive in 2020 to address the growing need for food insecurity in underserved communities during quarantine due to the pandemic. From the related economic fallout and the global pandemic up until today, hunger affects all groups of people regardless of education level, employment status, or ethnicity. Due to the soaring costs of essential goods and both housing and transportation in Los Angeles County, many people who work– even families with two incomes – often can’t make ends meet or put enough good food on the table. As of today, we are focused on preventing homelessness before it starts by offering free resources and services. We believe in the sharing mentality around so that no one goes hungry in the community.
